Purchasing a Barrel-- The silent auction

The silent auction is held in the tents adjacent to the barrel display at the Carmel Farmers Market on the third Saturday in August (August 17th 2019). Each barrel will have a sheet where you can write down your bid, name, and phone  number. Bids are accepted starting at 8am and through 11am. The highest bid on each barrel at 11am will be the winner. We encourage you to be present at 11am to check or increase your bid if there is a barrel you are set on winning.  Payment is due at the conclusion of the auction and you will take immediate possession of the barrel. You can make bids on behalf of others, with their permission, but please know that full payment is due at the conclusion of the auction and we cannot hold barrels for later pick up. Please see the rules below.

Silent Auction Rules
1. By bidding in the Rain on Main silent auction, each bidder agrees to these auction rules.
2. The Auction ends at 11am. The highest bid at that time will be the winner.
3. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds unless otherwise noted. All items are “as is.”
4. Payment for items purchased must be made in full at the close of the auction to the cashier. Rain on Main accepts cash, check made payable to Hamilton County SWCD, or Credit Card. Please report to the cashier as 11am to verify winning bid and make payment. All purchases are subject to 7% sales tax.
5. Following payments, a Rain on Main representative will accompany you to your purchased barrel for pick up. You must show your paid receipt for items to be picked up.
6. The purchaser must pick up all items at the close of the auction (11am), unless special arrangements are made. Any item left unclaimed, without prior arrangements, will be sold to the next highest bidder and proceeds will go to Rain on Main.

Notes: Each barrel was created independently with every artist using different materials. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the longevity of the artwork after exposure to outdoor conditions.

Each barrel has been coated with a clear protectant, however, we recommend:
  • Adding additional layers of clear protectant, as you see fit.
  • Bringing the barrel indoors during the winter months.
  • Strategic placement of the barrel to maintain the artwork if desired.
  • Consideration of the fact that no exterior art piece can last forever. While the barrel will always serve as a water conservation tool, the artwork should not be expected to maintain its current condition after extended exposure to sun, rain, and temperature fluxes.
